Peirce College Selected for PA Parent Pathways Grant
Funding to Support Pennsylvania Parents Interested in Advancing Their Education

PHILADELPHIA, PA  — The PA Department of Education has awarded Peirce College a $150,000 Parent Pathways Grant to support parents interested in finishing a college credential, gaining new skills and advancing their education.

The Parent Pathways Program provides support for programming and resources that help parents, especially those who are close to completion, earn a college credential. This includes funding for scholarships and emergency grants as well as wrap-around services, parent-centric programming and other services that help parents earn postsecondary credentials.

“We are honored to be selected as a recipient of this important grant program,” said Dr. Mary Ellen Caro, president and CEO of Peirce College. “As Philadelphia’s only college or university dedicated exclusively to serving adults, our institution is uniquely positioned to fulfill the goals of the Parent Pathways Program.”

Studies indicate that one in five undergraduate college students is balancing the responsibilities of raising children while pursuing a postsecondary education, and almost half of these students do not earn a degree. Students who are parenting need additional support to navigate through their academic program successfully.

Peirce College helps parents maximize the credits they have already earned through flexible, online degree programs and personalized student support focused on the unique needs of busy adults. The college also is a leader in awarding college credit for knowledge gained outside the classroom, including professional and military training, professional certifications and expertise gained through work, on-the-job training and other experiences.
