Nearly 22,000 graduates of Peirce College presently comprise the proud corps of its alumni.

It's a difficult task trying to select just one alum to focus on, considering the amazing number of impressive graduates, many of whom have gone on to positions of real significance and influence in their chosen fields. Yet, in this time of war and anxiety, we would like to offer special recognition to all of our military veterans who are alumni, and there are many more that we could begin to list. One remarkable graduate, in particular, caught our eye.

Mr. Edward W. Yost, class of 1950, attended Peirce College on the G.I. Bill, symbolizing the education history of so many of our esteemed alums. While at Peirce, Mr. Yost was the President of Sigma Gamma Omega (S.G.O.) fraternity.

In the service, Mr. Yost flew and fought with the legendary Flying Tigers of the 308th Bomber Group, one of the most decorated, fabled units of World War II. He saw action in China, India, and Burma. Following his years in the Air Corps, Mr. Yost used his sterling service record and his goodwill to persuade the U.S. Justice Department's Federal Bureau of Investigation to begin accepting Peirce College graduates as FBI agents. This was an unusual, precedent-setting decision. Prior to that time, the FBI had limited their incoming recruits to graduates with bachelor's degrees in Law and Accounting, only. After Mr. Yost's successful intervention, the FBI made a rare exception to accept Peirce College graduates, long before the College had achieved its present status as a four-year, bachelor's degree-granting institution.

Mr. Yost, Peirce College salutes you, along with your distinguished fellow alumni.
