First Time Installation
Step 1: After obtaining an approved drive, remove its protective cap to expose the USB connector.

Step 2: Insert USB drive into the front of the PC.
A) In most classrooms, computers will have the USB ports on the right side behind the monitor.

B) In the labs and other areas, the USB ports are located in the front of the PC, below the floppy drive.

Step 3: Once the USB drive has been inserted into the PC, you should see Found New Hardware prompts on toolbar's system tray to the bottom right of the screen.

You should also see a blue light on the end of the USB drive. This light means that the drive is installed and functioning properly.

You can also confirm that it has been properly installed by clicking on your computer’s START button and then clicking on My Computer. Here you will see an icon under the list of Devices with Removable Storage.

Step 4: The DTE Privacy Launcher setup should startup automatically. If it doesn’t, simply click on the DTE_Privacy_Launcher icon, shown as a yellow shield with a red face on it. You will then be prompted to select a Language.

Once you have selected a language, you will be presented with the Software License Agreement. Be sure to review it. If you do not accept the terms, you will not be permitted to move forward.

After accepting the terms, you will be allowed to setup password protection for your Kingston DTE USB drive. Input your custom password then click next.
Note: Your password must be between 6-16 characters in length, and of those characters there must be at least one upper case letter, and one digit or special character.
If the password is lost, it can't be recovered, and YOUR DATA WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE. Be sure not to forget or misplace your password.
Please use a hint that will cause you to remember the password!

Your KDTEP USB drive also allows you to include contact information so that in the event that your drive is misplaced, it can be returned to you. Simply provide any contact information you see fit at this screen.

Click 'Finish' to complete the installation.

To save to the USB drive, double click on the shield icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
