Student Comments About Online Paralegal Studies at Peirce College
Sandra Bowman '03:
I have been an online paralegal student at Peirce College since its inception and it has truly proven to be a rewarding experience for me in many ways. First, due to my hectic life schedule, it provides the convenience of not having to travel to the campus to complete my courses. Second, although there seems to be a lot more work involved in an online course as opposed to being on campus, it makes you push to do better to show that you can accomplish the work requirement without being in a class setting. Third, all of the professors who have taught the various online courses have made it easy for any person to adapt to a new way of teaching. Even those afraid of taking online courses will find them to be very rewarding in the end. The fear is only in your mind! If I can do it, anyone can! And this is from a married woman, with five children, who works everyday and comes home to prepare dinner and still manages to get homework done between everything else a mother's attention requires. You can do it too!

As a full-time employee, wife, and mother, I have found Peirce's online courses to be an invaluable tool for earning a college degree in the 21st century. For me, the convenience of online learning has not replaced the classroom camaraderie that I have experienced when taking courses on-campus. Instead, it has created a 24-hour learning environment that extends the student-professor relationship beyond the classroom. An extremely important aspect of online education is feedback from one's professor, especially during the required weekly "discussions". Through the use of email, I remain in constant communication with my professors. For the student who prefers the traditional venue, Peirce's on campus courses are equally informative and staffed by knowledgeable faculty, and are conveniently located in Center City Philadelphia. I highly recommend Peirce College to any student interested in seeking a career in the paralegal profession.

Being a full-time employee and single father is hard enough, trying to attend school at the same time is almost impossible. Peirce online makes the impossible possible. The classes are structured so that you can conveniently fit it around your schedule and not vice-versa. The classes are taught very well and structured so that you can progress at your own pace. They are fast enough that you can complete a semester's worth of work in a several weeks but not feel bogged down and slow enough that you can absorb what is being taught. The courses are very up to date on any new advances/technology in the field of study. The professors are very knowledgeable about the subject they are teaching and are there to guide you every step of the way. They are what make the online experience so enjoyable.

I am a part-time student at Peirce College earning a bachelor's degree in paralegal studies. Peirce professors offer in depth lectures and their personal experiences to accommodate book knowledge in varied areas of the law. Professors teach to students on an individual level in the small classroom setting. I am encouraged to participate in the learning process through group assignments and individual presentations. The paralegal program stresses career development through guest speakers who work as paralegals and by joining professional organizations. Peirce advisors assist me in planning appropriate courses that fit my academic, career and personal schedule, while working towards degree completion. An educational alternative to classroom education is online learning. Online education allows me to pursue a full-time career while attending virtual class.
