Peirce College Makes Connections with New Higher Education Blog
For Immediate Release
Site will share successes and challenges of Peirce students and alumni, as well as higher and continuing education issues, school curriculum and Peirce's unique relationship with the Philadelphia community.
Philadelphia, November 9, 2009 - Members of Philadelphia-based Peirce College community are familiar with fostering a kinship online and in the classroom. Now they are expanding their connections even further with the launch of the College's new blog, located at http://blog.peirce.edu.
Designed with the needs of students in mind, the blog serves as an online resource for the Peirce College community, including students and alumni, faculty members, partners and supporters.
Topics will include trends and changes in higher and continuing education, challenges facing working adults in pursuing degree programs, student resources, insight into how education is shaping the Philadelphia region, and success stories of Peirce College students and alumni. The blog will also offer information on resources available to current and prospective Peirce students.
"Encouraging participation from members of the Peirce community is one of the primary goals of my new role," says Peirce College President and blog contributor James J. Mergiotti. "This is an excellent opportunity to provide valuable insight into the importance of Peirce's relationship-oriented approach-both inside and outside the classroom-in helping students achieve their educational and career goals. Speaking with students firsthand gives me an extraordinary appreciation of their strong commitment to learning and dedication to their studies. This has inspired me to find new outlets for communicating with Peirce stakeholders, including the Peirce Connections blog."
While posts from faculty and staff are featured in the blog's launch, future insights will come from the entire Peirce College community, including students and alumni. In addition to monthly posts from Mergiotti, some of the topics already posted on the Peirce Connections blog include:
- A look at how access to education and its level of quality will help shape students and colleges to meet their evolving needs - Associate Dean Jon Lenrow
- Why military service should be honored for college credit and the programs that help service members continue their education - Program Manager, Institutional Relationships, Steve Bird
- Patience, Passion and Perseverance: An interview with Peirce Paralegal Studies student Susan Witte by Associate Dean Edwin Miller
