About Peirce:

Taking Education to the Student

Arthur J. Lendo, Ph.D., was named president in July, 1991. Since then, the College has reaffirmed its historical mission of providing practical, leading edge education. Peirce has strengthened its leadership position in the region through educational innovation and strategic partnerships with employers. Student enrollments have reached all-time records in many programs for both the main campus on Pine Street in Center City and Corporate College sites throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.

Changing demands in the marketplace spurred by the need of corporations and government agencies to guarantee a quality workforce lead Peirce to pioneer the Corporate College in 1994. The entire Business Administration Degree (the same as offered on campus) is delivered to students at their respective places of employment. Corporate College students study within a student cohort or cluster at their workplace or within their community at an accelerated schedule, using customized case study examples. Between 1991 and 1995, enrollment grew by 50%.

In 1997, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Education, granted Peirce College approval of the right to assume four-year collegiate status and to award the Bachelor of Science degree for programs in Business, Healthcare, Information Technology, Court Reporting, and Paralegal Studies.

Also In 1997, Peirce became the only bachelor's degree program in Paralegal Studies in Philadelphia to be approved by the American Bar Association. Currently Peirce College has been accredited both on campus and online by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

In 1998, Peirce was the chosen location for the filming of M. Night Shyamalan's "The Sixth Sense," starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joe Osment. Peirce faculty and students were witness to the magic of making movies with the transformation of College Hall into St. Anthony's Academy for Boys.

At the Millennium, Peirce College created Peirce Online, which enabled students to access quality Peirce courses through the Internet. Currently, Peirce is one of the fastest growing Bachelor's degree programs on the Internet, according to Oakleigh Thorne, Chairman and CEO of eCollege, Inc.

Today, Peirce College continues in the tradition of excellence, with enhancements to our traditional and online classes with information-rich content and multimedia.
