Assistant or Associate Professor, Human Resource and Business Programs

FUNCTIONS:

  • Instructs and prepares all course-related activities for five (5) courses per fall and spring terms (ten [10] total courses), to include syllabi development, course master development and maintenance, textbook selection, curriculum/course development, use of course companion web site, lesson planning, and assessment.  May be eligible for up to six (6) courses / eighteen (18) credit hours in overload annually.
  • Serves as Course Coordinator for designated courses to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance to standards as set forth by the Academic Quality Assurance Committee.
  • Provides academic advising and career mentoring to students within respective program(s).
  • Commits to four (4) hours of approved institutional service per week including, but not limited to, student recruitment programs, proactive participation in tutoring, career mentoring, academic advising, networking activities, and curriculum/course development.
  • Provides office hours and reasonable availability to students. Requirements are to post one (1) office hour per course per week in the same delivery format as the course(s) is taught.  For online courses, weekly synchronous instruction is required.
  • Provides internal and external student service to include 24-hour response time (Monday-Friday) to students, fellow faculty members, and staff.
  • Delivers accurate and prompt reporting of records to include student attendance, withdrawals, grades, resolving incomplete grades, and any other data as deemed necessary.
  • Attends and actively participates in faculty meetings, in-service/professional development activities, commencement, and other meetings which may be assigned.
  • Represents the faculty perspective and/or respective program on various committees throughout the College and contributes to the overall goals and objectives.

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree in field and enrollment in or willingness to become enrolled in relevant terminal degree program required. Terminal degree highly preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in higher education and relevant practical experience in discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of HRM theory and practice desired.
  • Maintains, renews, and/or acquires applicable/required certifications. PHR, GHR, or SPHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is strongly desired.
  • Experience teaching in online and hybrid course formats preferred.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System for instruction preferred. 
  • Full awareness and understanding of outcomes-based education, participatory and work-based learning, as well as adult learning theory and principles.
Proficiency in Windows operating environment as well as the knowledge of or ability to learn virtual conferencing/meeting applications, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform – Salesforce preferred, Google Workplace, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Work independently and as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Listen carefully, to interpret accurately, and to respond appropriately to a high volume of requests.

STATUS:

Traditional (9.5 months) Full-Time/Exempt – Position can be performed remotely. Candidates local to the surrounding area are optimal due to necessary job functions and expectations of onsite work and/or event attendance, as needed.

Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required as employees they cannot enter our facilities, attend meetings or events, on behalf of Peirce, without it. 

HOURS (Eastern Time Zone):

Day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, as required.
