Assistant Professor, Human Resource Management (HRM)

DUTIES:

Responsible for the instruction, course coordination, continuous program review, planning, development, and effectiveness of Human Resource Management (HRM) and select courses within the Business Division. Additional responsibilities require designing, developing, and implementing HRM and Business degrees and certificate programs in accordance with accreditation standards, maintaining the accreditation, and alignment of the HRM curriculum with Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) academic guidelines. Assigned to teach a 5-5-4 teaching load (42 total credit hours annually) and is generally allocated as five courses (15 credit hours) during the Fall, five courses (15 credit hours) during the Spring, and four courses (12 credit hours) during the Summer Terms, and is eligible for up to twelve (12) credit hours in overload annually. Assigned courses may be day, evening, weekend, on campus, on site, and/or online. Serves as Course Coordinator for designated courses to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance to standards as set forth by the Academic Quality Assurance Committee. Engages in, on average, four (4) hours of institutional service per week which may include committee work, student recruitment programs, tutoring, career mentoring, academic advising, networking activities, and curriculum/course development. Attends functions, as assigned, including commencement, monthly faculty meetings, College forums, and scheduled in-service activities. Becomes involved in professional development activities, and academic/professional organizations; and supports existing relationships with professional communities to foster professional socialization and leadership development.

REQUIREMENTS:

Doctorate preferred or Master’s degree with willingness to work towards doctorate in field of HRM with a three (3) years relevant practical experience and successful teaching background in higher education to include managing an academic program; and working knowledge of business program accreditation standards, curriculum requirements, and SHRM academic guidelines. PHR, GHR or SPHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification strongly desired. Flexibility to teach in all delivery modes with a commitment to excellence. Thorough knowledge of HRM theory and practice; a full awareness and understanding of outcomes based education and active, learning techniques; and, adult learning theory and principles. Attention to detail, effective writing & proof-reading skills; & sound project & time management abilities; strong customer service, enthusiasm, & vision; excellent communication, & interpersonal & team skills; a high degree of professionalism; & respect for student confidentiality. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite with ability to learn and use technologically current applications, including higher education career software.

STATUS:

Regular Full-Time Twelve (12) - Month Faculty/Exempt. Date required: July 1, 2019.

HOURS:

Day, evening, and/or weekend hours, as required.
