Academic Assessment Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:

Peirce College is seeking an experienced Controller to: ensure the integrity of all financial information and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) standards, Uniform Guidance and regulations; manage the processes, internal controls, and functions of the Accounting Department, including general ledger, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, as well as gifts and grants; and, prepare the financial statements (internal and audited) and tax filings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads the Accounting Department to ensure the integrity of financial information and compliance with GAAP, FASB, Uniform Guidance and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the production of quarterly and audited financial statements as well as related notes, schedules, and roll forwards.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including general ledger, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, and gifts and grants.
  • Manages the annual external audit and regulatory filings, including the IRS Forms 990, 1098-T, and 1099.
  • Serves as the liaison to the audit field team and tax team.
  • Collaborates across departments to design and implement internal controls in a decentralized processing environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the VP, Finance & Administration.

DIRECT SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Associate Director of Student Billing & Accounts Receivable, Senior Accountant, and Staff Accountant

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree required in related field.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred. 
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ related working experience, preferably in higher education or nonprofit.
  • Fosters a collaborative team-oriented work environment to accomplish the Department’s goals. 
  • Proficiency in Windows operating environment, current Microsoft Office Suite products, Google G-suite, and Zoom or similar web conferencing applications.
  • Experience with accounting systems, such as Jenzabar, or comparable platform, and the ability to learn and use technologically current applications and other software.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO:

  • Analyze and solve problems within the constraints of College policy and procedures.
  • Liaise with internal staff and external contacts in order to manage projects and ensure their completion.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Listen carefully, to interpret accurately, and to respond to a high volume of requests.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with all aspects of the job duties.

STATUS:

Full-Time/Exempt – Position is currently remote until further notice. Candidates should be local to the Philadelphia area due to necessary job functions as role will have expectations of onsite/event attendance, as needed.

Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required of employees as they cannot enter our facilities, attend meetings or events on behalf of Peirce without it. 

HOURS:

Day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, as required.
