Dean, Academic Operations & Faculty Support


This position serves as the leader and manager for Academic Operations and Faculty Support and is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring quality control systems for the academic program and operational procedures. More specifically, this position: leads the operations process for new academic programs and professional development/non-credit programs; monitors the faculty ratio to ensure compliance; maintains relationships between primary College vendors, as appropriate; implements and provides oversight to new initiatives with respect to operations and faculty; oversees faculty support functions to include staffing classes and hiring, faculty development/in-service, and faculty observations; oversees the orientation process for all part-time faculty members and participates in components of the process for all new full-time faculty members; manages development of academic calendar, college catalog, and class schedules in conjunction with other appropriate parties; oversees online administration, including responsibility for traffic management of students and faculty and interface between the Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Jenzabar; and, supervises the development and implementation of training for faculty and students on use of the LMS, including the CBE platform. Additionally, the Dean is responsible for teaching a minimum of one (1) course per academic year as a part of this role.


Master’s Degree required with seven (7) years’ experience in higher education administration and/or oversight of learning management systems and instructional technology. Higher Education teaching experience preferred. Must be able to display tact, diplomacy, and skill effectively in communicating the College’s policies and procedural guidelines. Demonstrated team player with independent decision making ability. Functions as a leader within the entire College community, one-on-one, and in small and large groups. Demonstrated knowledge of management principles, budgeting practices, and supervision is required. Demonstrated ability to: provide outstanding service to customers in a fast-paced, high volume environment; explain policies and procedures to customers and colleagues to foster compliance, as well as analyze and solve problems within the constraints of those policies and procedures; supports the College's Mission, particularly in administering the responsibilities of the Department; maintain a high level of confidentiality with all aspects of the job duties; organize efficiently with meticulous attention to details; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; listen carefully, to interpret accurately and to respond to a high volume of requests. Strong project and time management skills that enable the accomplishment of many tasks on a concurrent basis. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range on constituencies in a diverse community. Proficiency in Windows operating environment, along with current Microsoft Office Suite, database management, as well as knowledge of Jenzabar or comparable college platform, and the ability to learn and use other current applications as needed.


Regular Full-Time/Exempt


Day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, as required.
