The Arthur J. Lendo Endowed Scholarship Fund awards inaugural scholarship

This year marks the debut of the Arthur J. Lendo Endowed Scholarship Fund. Dr. Lendo served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Peirce College from 1991-2009. He presided over an era of successful transformation at the College, overseeing many major accomplishments. Upon Dr. Lendo’s retirement last spring, the Peirce College Board of Trustees announced the fund as a tribute for Dr. Lendo’s outstanding service to the College.

It is my pleasure to announce the 2010 recipient of the Arthur J. Lendo Endowed Scholarship:

Teresa Marie Wilson

You might recognize Teresa, a junior in Peirce’s Paralegal Studies program, from our Featured Learner Series. On top of being an excellent student while attending Peirce part time, Teresa is employed at Impact Copy and a full-time mother of two small children.

She is an active member of Peirce’s Paralegal Student Association and Ambassadors Club. She finds time to volunteer at the Philadelphia Association of Paralegals (PAP) and Pennsylvania Innocents Project. Teresa was the recipient of the PAP’s 2009 Joan Weldon Scholarship, as well as the PAP 2010 Special Recognition award.

Congratulations, Teresa!

A little more about the Arthur J. Lendo Endowed Scholarship Fund:

The fund will be distributed via an annual scholarship to selected Peirce students who exemplify skills and characteristics in the areas of technology and innovation; demonstrate strong academic performance; and are good citizens.

The scholarship can be awarded to Peirce students in any program of study who have completed at least 60 credit hours at the College or other accredited institutions, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above. Applicants must submit an essay describing how they have used technology innovatively in a workplace or community setting and provide reference letters evidencing good citizenship.

The fund, which consists of contributions from trustees, alumni, employees, suppliers, and friends of the College, further strengthens the College’s financial aid resources.

Peirce is committed to offering resources that make earning a Peirce degree more attainable and accessible for students. The Student Financial Services department is always available to help students navigate the financial aspects of earning their degree, with a wide variety of channels available to students, including scholarships and tuition support.
