Frequently Asked Questions

How many transfer credits can I apply to a bachelor's degree at Peirce?

The amount of transfer credits you can apply to a bachelor’s degree program at Peirce depends on the program you select.

Our degree completion programs can accommodate up to 102 transfer credits. The most flexible of these programs are the BA in Liberal Studies, which has 60 open electives, and the BS in Organizational Leadership, which has 39 open electives. Our other degree completion programs are the BS in Human Services Leadership and BS in Technology Management, which are flexible but more prescriptive than the Liberal Studies and Organizational Leadership programs.

All other bachelor's degree programs at Peirce can accommodate up to 90 transfer credits, including our baccalaureate programs in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, human resource management, health information administration, healthcare administration, information technology and paralegal studies.

Can I really finish my bachelor's degree for as low as $11,000 at Peirce?

Yes! Peirce has recently created degree completion pathways that enable students to finish a bachelor's degree for as low as $11,000 and reduce or potentially avoid incurring student debt.

These pathways are the result of collaborations the College has formed over the past year aimed at increasing access and affordability for adults. The pathways Peirce has created leverage transfer credits, prior learning assessment, professional and military training, low-cost and no-cost alternative credit options and a new flat tuition pilot program.

To finish your bachelor’s for $11,000, you will need 102 transfer credits that apply to the BA in Liberal Studies, the BS in Organizational Leadership or BS in Technology Management. You will earn the remaining credits for a flat tuition of $11,000.

Most students do not possess 102 transfer credits, so we have created additional pathways for the BA in Liberal Studies, the BS in Organizational Leadership and BS in Technology Management, based on a variety of common transfer credit scenarios:

  • Students with 90 transfer credits that apply to the degree can finish a bachelor’s for $12,000
  • Students with 60 transfer credits that apply to the degree can finish a bachelor’s for $14,000
  • Students with 45 transfer credits that apply to the degree can finish a bachelor’s for $15,000

We also have created affordable pathways for students interested in our other bachelor’s degree programs that can accommodate up to 90 transfer credits, including our baccalaureate programs in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, human resource management, health information administration, healthcare administration, information technology and paralegal studies.

These pathways enable students to finish the degree for between $20,000 - $22,000, depending on how many transfer credits can apply to the degree.

Does Peirce College offer scholarships to Phi Theta Kappa members?

How can I earn credit for what I already know?

You can earn credit at Peirce College for college-level knowledge you already possess through the following methods:

  • Credit-by-exam
  • Portfolio assessment
  • Credentials, training and other programs that have been evaluated for college credit

Credit-by-exam programs, such as the CLEP®, the College-level Exam Program, and Peirce College exams, allow students to test out of a degree requirement. These exams provide significant savings in time and money for adults who know the material because they are a fraction of the cost of course tuition and typically take less time to complete.

With portfolio assessment, students develop a portfolio containing evidence that they possess college-level knowledge that is equivalent to what they would have learned in a specific course that is required in their degree program. Like credit-by-exam, portfolio assessment typically costs much less than course tuition and can save adults who know the material time and money.

Students can also earn credit for professional licenses and certifications, professional and military training and other programs that have been evaluated for credit by Peirce College or the American Council on Education and fit a specific degree program requirement. There are no additional costs to earning this credit for students, who have completed the training or possess the credentials, which comes over as transfer credit.
