Peirce College Celebrates Women Business Leaders

Seventh Annual Women in Leadership Panel Event Set for March 15

PHILADELPHIA, Mar. 8, 2017 — Peirce College will welcome five of the region’s top executives to discuss their journeys to leadership at its seventh annual Women in Leadership Panel Event.

The free event, which is open to the public, is set for March 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peirce College, 1420 Pine St., Philadelphia, Room 51. 

Representing a variety of industries, the panelists will share their personal and professional stories and offer insights into how they succeeded in shattering the glass ceiling.  

“Peirce College is proud of its role in developing the leaders of tomorrow,” said President &  CEO James J. Mergiotti. “Nearly 72 percent of our students are women who have already taken an important step toward advancing their careers by pursuing higher education. This event will celebrate the women who have held leadership positions in this region, and those who will lead in the future.” 

This year’s panel includes:

Nicole P. Ross, Mid-Atlantic Region Head for Private Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs. A graduate of Hampton University and Columbia Business School, she successfully rose through the ranks at the firm after becoming a summer associate in 1998. Ross was named managing director in 2011 and serves as the national recruiting and diversity champion. Previously, she advised foundations, institutions and select families in New York. 

Jane Slusser, Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Philadelphia. Prior to her current position at City Hall, she ran Mayor Kenney’s 2016 campaign, served as organizing director at Equality Pennsylvania and is a veteran of both of President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. Slusser is a graduate of Barnard College at Columbia University. 

Susan V. Van Buren, Assistant General Manager, Human Resources Division, SEPTA. Until retiring this year from an extensive and accomplished career in human resources, Van Buren was responsible for the strategic direction of HR for more than 9,000 union and non-union employees throughout Philadelphia and its suburbs. She is a graduate of the College of New Jersey, formerly Trenton State College. 

Eloise Young, Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Information Services, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW). A veteran of the information technology industry, Young currently oversees the design, implementation and oversight of a robust corporate strategic planning process. She was named one of the 2014 top influential women in corporate America by Savoy Magazine and one of the most powerful and influential women in Pennsylvania by the National Diversity Council. 

Dina Galeotafiore, Senior Vice President, Executive Search, Comcast. Prior to her current position, Galeotafiore played a key role throughout NBC Universal in various senior HR functions. She is an active member in several industry organizations including Women in Cable & Telecommunications. She earned an MBA from The Pennsylvania State University.

Moderator – Dr. Rita Toliver-Roberts, Vice President, Academic Advancement, Peirce College. Responsible for leading the quality delivery of Peirce’s undergraduate and graduate programs, Toliver-Roberts oversees the faculty and academic divisions that help drive student success through degree attainment. She received her doctorate from Rowan University and is also a graduate of Rider University.

 “Over the years, I have witnessed first-hand countless Peirce students finding inspiration in our panelists’ professional journeys as well as a number of mentoring relationships that have developed as a result of this event,” said Uva Coles, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Strategic Partnerships. “Our Women in Leadership Panel is an essential part of Peirce’s celebration of Women’s History Month and the professional growth of our students.”
