This fund was established to honor the memory of Cherita D. Brown who passed away on September 3, 2019. Cherita proudly worked for Peirce for almost 25 years in many different roles. As the Associate Director of Student Financial Services, she helped thousands of students achieve their academic goals. Cherita loved Peirce and considered her efforts the culmination of her work life achievements. Cherita loved her colleagues and was loved and cherished by all those who knew her. To honor Cherita's memory and legacy, this fund was established to continue her work in helping students to move forward in their education, their careers, and their lives. Cherita's selfless contributions to Peirce College, her community, and her family set an exemplary high standard, one that we hope to honor with this scholarship.

Purpose

The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to students who are nearing the completion of their degree and demonstrate academic success, financial need, personal integrity, and dedication to the advancement of others.

Award

Annual award of up to $1000. There are a limited number of scholarships available. 

Eligibility criteria:

• Students with at least 90 credits towards their degree
• Maintain a GPA of 2.5
• Demonstrate financial need.
• File a 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
• Preference will be given to a student who resides in Philadelphia County but it is not a requirement

Application Requirements

Interested students must submit all application materials by the deadline.

• Completed Common Scholarship Application
• Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation, with one from a Peirce faculty member or administrator. Letters of recommendation are due by the deadline
• Applicants must submit an essay. The essay should highlight the academic journey, personal integrity, and dedication to the advancement of others. All application documents should be uploaded into your application.
