Practice networking with help from Peirce’s Career Development Services

If you’re one of the few people out there who loves socializing professionally, lucky you!

For the rest of us, networking can be an overwhelming and daunting experience. If you fear those networking events, know that you’re not alone. Even some of the most seasoned professionals are uncomfortable participating in such events.

But whether you love it or hate it, networking is crucial no matter where you are in your career. For students, practice and preparation will calm the nerves and help you develop the skills it takes to network your way to a great job.

The Career Development Services (CDS) team is hosting an event on Wednesday, Oct. 5 for just that purpose. “Mocktails: Building Connections Through Networking” will give attendees an opportunity to drink a mock cocktail and practice how to effectively work the room.

Students who attend the event will learn important networking skills, such as how to dress, who to approach, what to say, and even what food and drink you should have at a networking event. These simple tips can go a long way to making you feel more comfortable in a setting where you need to socialize professionally.

Come out next Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a chance to interact with industry professionals, including Peirce alumni who’ve been where you are and will be on hand to provide you feedback and guidance.

The event will be held in rooms 51 & 52 of College Hall. Please RSVP by email by Sept. 28. If you can’t make it to Wednesday’s event, we encourage you to check out the CDS workshop schedule, or send us an email to set up a one-on-one session!
