Peirce’s new General Studies degree provides stepping stone for a bachelor’s degree
If you know you want to go back to school, but aren’t sure what you want to study, you aren’t alone. Not everyone knows what they want to be when they grow up, no matter how grown up they already are!
Don’t let indecision slow you down. The sooner you get started building the foundation that you’re going to need to get your bachelor’s degree, the sooner you will be able to climb the ladder to a better career, a better future.
That’s why we decided to add a General Studies degree program to the portfolio at Peirce College. Whether you are undecided on your area of study or professional path, or hitting a wall in your career because of lack of credentials, our Associate in Arts in General Studies offers a flexible option to get you started. The two-year program prepares students for a variety of entry-level career positions and serves as an important stepping stone towards completing a bachelor’s degree.
The curriculum covers a wide range of courses including humanities, history, arts, English, social sciences, mathematics, and technology. It allows for a well-rounded education in oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills. It’s applicable to all job types.
Is the General Studies degree right for you? It might be if you’re looking for these things in your education:
- A degree that you can customize to fit personal and professional interests
- Online and on-campus format
- Accelerated seven-week classes
- Academic and career support from advisors and Career Development Services to help you determine your next steps
- Small class size
- The opportunity to leverage previous general education credits as Peirce will accept up to 30 transfer credits (half of the degree requirement)
You can even hear directly from students who are enrolled in the program. Peirce created the General Studies degree program especially for the School District of Philadelphia’s Parent University. In 2010, 25 adult students — parents of Philadelphia school children — took their first steps to their Associate in Arts degrees. These students have a year of studies under their belt and have a lot to say about why the General Studies program is a great opportunity to advance your skills and knowledge.
We’re excited to now introduce the program to the rest of the community. Increasing access to college education is the first step in providing students with the opportunities, tools, and resources that will help you complete your bachelor’s degree and succeed in your career.
Once you take the first step and start to find your passion, we have a wide variety of bachelor’s degrees at your fingertips to continue your education and land jobs in fast growing industries (such as healthcare, accounting, and human resource management). Keep an eye out for information about even more new degree programs we’ve launched recently at Peirce!
