President of the Alumni Association, Two Time Graduate, Mother, and Full-Time Director : Meet Rashean Ramsue

Since 1865, Peirce College has served the unique needs of working adults and employers through the ongoing evolution of programs that provide students with academic excellence, flexibility and personalized support. We are proud to celebrate 160 years of Peirce College and in celebration we will highlight our alumni and our upcoming graduates.

Today’s feature is Rashean Ramsue, President of the Alumni Association, Two-time Peirce graduate, Mother, and Director.

In 2018, Rashean attended a partnership information session hosted at her place of employment. She was previously familiar with Peirce  and wanted to learn more about the college. She ultimately decided to enroll due to the adult and career focused program offerings, tuition cost, tuition discount offered through the partnership with her employer, and the bachelor’s to master’s degree program.

“My eldest daughter was one of my motivations; watching her attain her bachelor’s and master’s degrees as a first-generation college student inspired me to return to school as an adult.”

In 2018, Rashean enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and graduated in 2022. During her time as an undergraduate student, she was able to transfer 9 credits from Community College of Philadelphia. “In my experience, the transfer of those credits was seamless. It allowed me to not repeat or have to pay for courses that I had previously taken, “ she said.

She chose to pursue a degree in Business Administration to enhance her opportunities in her career.

“When I began at Peirce I was in a managerial role and was looking to enroll in a degree program that offered courses that would assist me in becoming a better leader so that I would be prepared for growth opportunities when they were presented, ” she said.

After completing her bachelor’s degree, she knew she wanted to expand her education. And in 2023, she completed her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership & Management which has helped advance her career and learn more from a business aspect.

Rashean describes her overall experience at Peirce as positive and rewarding. “Being at Peirce required me to be intentional about where I spent my time and to depend on my family to help more than I had ever done before… and yet it was one of the best decisions that I ever made for me.”

Although she was able to successfully complete her degrees at Peirce, she was met with obstacles that she had to overcome. She juggled the responsibility of a full-time job, family, self-care, and personal commitments to local organizations.

She was able to persevere through those challenges by being intentional about where and how she spent her time. “I leaned on my village for help so that I was able to better balance my responsibilities.” she said.

While her time as a student at Peirce has ended, she stays connected by serving as the President of the Alumni Association. Peirce’s Alumni Association welcomes alumni to stay connected and take advantage of the benefits of a lasting relationship with the College.

Prior to becoming the President, she held the positions of board member and student representative. Since joining the Association, she has met and absorbed nuggets from alum members in different industries, with diverse backgrounds that she would never have crossed paths with albeit other than the connection to the Peirce family.

She states, “The Alumni Association is a great way for Peirce students and alumni to stay connected.  I encourage Peirce alums and future alums to attend our networking and/or volunteer events.  It is a terrific opportunity to meet new people and reengage with those that you are already familiar with, and we have fun!”

Currently, Rashean works as a Director, Health Services Reports & Controls at AmeriHealth Caritas. In the future, she plans to use her degrees to continue to grow as a leader in the data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting space.

And for all of her fellow Peirce students and the working adults considering going back to school, Rashean has some advice: “Albeit cliche,’ to echo the Nike slogan “Just Do It”. The commitment is well worth the reward.”

Congratulations on all of your graduation and accomplishments, Rashean!
