It’s official! Peirce College and Year Up formally recognize and celebrate our partnership
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Philadelphia County, Pa. posted the highest unemployment rate among the 11 counties that make up our metropolitan area — 10.4 percent — last year. This alarming number is the direct result of an ongoing issue that we have discussed here on our blog in the past, the opportunity divide, or the idea that young adults have the talent that companies are looking for, but don’t have the right tools and opportunities to pursue these jobs.

Peirce College is on the front lines of this battle against unemployment in many ways, but our partnership with Year Up and our support of its Professional Training Corps program in particular deserves a spotlight. Students that enroll in the program fulfill 27 credits at Peirce College and participate in a full-time internship at a Fortune 1000 company.
So on Wednesday, March 5, we celebrated a ribbon cutting to formally recognize Year Up’s partnership with The College. Wednesday’s ceremony was dedicated to the faculty and staff from Peirce and Year Up, and, of course, the current classes of Year Up students.
