Career and Development Counselor: Meet James McLaughlin

Career and Development Counselor: Meet James McLaughlin

Meet Peirce College’s new Career and Development Counselor, James McLaughlin, but you can call him Jim. With more than 15 years of experience working in higher education, primarily in career services, Jim knows the ins and outs of helping students earn their degree and jumpstart their career. Jim brings to Peirce deep knowledge of on-campus recruitment, teaching professional development, and facilitating workshops.

In his new role at Peirce, Jim will provide career readiness support for students and alumni, including resume and cover letter services, job search assistance, career fair coaching, and even services at the beginning of a student’s journey such as deciding what major will align with students’ career aspirations.

In His Spare Time

When Jim is not providing career support services to Peirce students, he has many other hobbies. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he is a proud and loyal E-A-G-L-E-S fan. Jim enjoys cheering on his favorite team in-person, and has been working part-time at Lincoln Financial Field for 18 years. He also enjoys going to Disney every year for his birthday.

If you need any tips on interesting places within the city, Jim is your guy. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jim was also a professional tour guide.

Advice for Peirce Students

His best advice for Peirce students? To quote the words of Jiminy Cricket “Let your conscience be your guide.” Jim shares this quote to encourage Peirce students to uncover your destiny, pursue your degree, and follow your dreams.

Welcome to Peirce College, Jim!
