Philadelphia, PA – May 25, 2010 – Peirce College announced today a partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce that provides a special membership package of preferred rates and benefits for students of the College.

The program is the Chamber’s first direct outreach to the student market.

Peirce was selected by the Chamber because of the College’s reputation and strong tradition of providing business education for residents of the Greater Philadelphia region.

The program gives Peirce students access to benefits offered to the Chamber’s Entrepreneur and Young Professional Network members. The membership allows students to attend several programs each year, including workshops that focus on strategic networking and career advancement, as well as events that provide insight into regional business issues.

“We are pleased to partner with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce,” said Peirce President and Chief Executive Officer James J. Mergiotti. “The Chamber is the most active business advocacy group in Greater Philadelphia. The majority of Peirce students are from the Philadelphia area, so our partnership is a good fit. Another distinction is Peirce students tend to stay in the Philadelphia area after graduation.

“The key elements of the membership package tie in with the College’s curriculum, which is focused on workforce development and students who are looking for new careers, career transitions or career advancement,” Mergiotti said. “By partnering with the Chamber, our students can become even more involved in the Greater Philadelphia community, another key Peirce initiative.”

Rob Wonderling, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, said the partnership aligns perfectly with the Chamber’s mission to attract, retain and grow jobs in Greater Philadelphia.

“I encourage all Peirce College students to join our Chamber and take advantage of this special membership opportunity,” Wonderling said. “As the premier voice of the regional business community, we welcome Peirce students into our diverse membership base.”
