Getting to know Holly Frey, student speaker for 2010 Commencement

Earlier today I shared with you some video from the 2009 Commencement. As we enter the final countdown to Monday’s 2010 Commencement, I’d like to introduce this year’s student speaker, Holly Frey.

On June 14, Holly will be graduating summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies. She was recently elected to “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges,” and is eagerly anticipating attending law school next year.

Like many Peirce students, Holly put her own academic and career goals on hold to focus on the needs of her family. It was not until she was preparing her daughter for college that Holly decided the time was right to continue the quest for her own bachelor’s degree.

When she first reached out to Peirce, Holly was impressed with the welcoming nature and encouragement she encountered as she looked into the Paralegal Studies program.

After meeting Doreen Zaccardi, a soon to be Peirce graduate at the time who happened to be the 2008 Commencement speaker, Holly decided Peirce was the right place for her. She sat down with her family and told them her plans, asking for their help and support as she took on a new endeavor and took the leap towards earning her bachelor’s degree.

Holly’s commitment to her education and developing her career go far beyond the classroom. In 2009, she co-founded the Bucks County Paralegal Association (BCPA) and has since served as the BCPA’s vice president. She also serves on the Paralegal Advisory Board of Bucks County Community College. In addition to her academic pursuits, Holly is a full-time paralegal with the Hardwick Law Offices LLC in Doylestown, Pa.

We very much look forward to hearing what Holly has to say at commencement. As she shares her story with this year’s graduating class, it is sure to ring true to many in the audience who have traveled a similar path to achieve their degree, and also inspire others out there who might be considering advancing their education. We’ll see you at commencement, Holly!
