Talking about money, especially during a job interview, can be intimidating, but it doesn’t need to be.

You should certainly not walk into a first interview and ask how much a position pays, but you should negotiate once an offer is on the table. Employers expect that job seekers will negotiate.

There are steps you can take before you enter the salary discussion to help you increase your starting salary.
