PHILADELPHIA – The W. W. Smith Charitable Trust has awarded Peirce College a grant of $41,000 for a scholarship program for the 2020-2021 academic year, in a continued effort to help working adult learners finish their degrees. This scholarship program provides funding for tuition, books, and other costs of attendance for eligible students.

“Adult students are often overlooked for scholarship programs because many take their courses differently than traditional aged students,” said Dr. Rita Toliver-Roberts, Vice President, Academic Affairs and Provost at Peirce College. “We are thankful to the W.W. Smith Charitable Trust for their recognition that older students balancing work, life, and degree completion also need financial assistance. This scholarship program will help our students cross the finish line.”

The W.W. Smith Charitable Trust is a private foundation established by William Wikoff Smith in 1977. The Trust makes grants in the Greater Philadelphia Region to support basic needs, college scholarships, maritime heritage preservation, and medical research primarily in heart disease, cancer, and AIDS.
